Privacy is dead, and social media hold smoking gun

I'd wager that the high price of not capturing and sharing every moment of our lives will soon dwarf the cost to our privacy.

Privacy is dead, and social media hold the smoking gun.

Those who insert themselves into as many channels as possible look set to capture the most value. They'll be the richest, the most successful, the most connected, capable and influential among us.

Participate or fade into a lonely obscurity. We're living at a time when attention is the new currency.

What do you desire right now?

Visualize it, and it will come about.

"Your desires are like a painting that you create upon the canvas of your life. Like an artist, you must decide what the theme, background, and foreground will be within your picture. Take some time out to meditate, pray upon, and contemplate this important decision. Be creative, and maintain standards for yourself. But remember: If you don't make a decision, that's the same thing as deciding that everything shall remain the same."

The Impact of Substance Abuse on Federal, State and Local Budgets

The CASA report found that of $373.9 billion in federal and state spending, 95.6 percent ($357.4 billion) went to shovel up the consequences and human wreckage of substance abuse and addiction; only 1.9 percent went to prevention and treatment, 0.4 percent to research, 1.4 percent to taxation and regulation, and 0.7 percent to interdiction.

I'm starting to feel my Power again.

It feels awesome. I’ve been hibernating – but the time has come where I will arise again and be stronger than ever before. This is exciting. I feel more focused and know what I want to do. There’s still parts needing to be revealed – but I’m moving in the right direction, which is important.

Thank God.

It feels good to be back in myself.

Moonlight Swim

Took Manda tonight for a moonlight swim. It made her day to go swimming past her bedtime. I just love her yellow goggles. :)

Manda's Scars from House Fire

When Amanda was 18 months old she was in a house fire. Thankfully, she made it out alive. We spent many months in the hospital. The doctors did an amazing job on her skin grafts. Many don't even realize she has scars until her hair flies back or they look closely at her hands.

We are very blessed.

Kennolyn Camp

My husband Eric has a great job at a local kids camp. It's Kennolyn Camp and has been around for over 60 years. It's quite the majestic place and it's really fun hearing all the great stories from kids (and adults).

Eric is the Online Marketing Coordinator. He's also going to be teaching a Superhero Cartoon class this summer. They will each design their own superhero. He's very excited about this and it gives him great experience.

Friends Forever

Posted via email from My Mosaic Life.

Bellow. Leveraging the Wisdom of Crowds.

Being a geek in technology, I discovered Blellow a few months back.
I was intrigued and wanted to check it out.

What is Blellow?

Blellow, a social network allowing freelancers and professionals to collaborate, find work, and solve problems through a friendly, familiar micro-blog interface by answering the question: “What are you working on?”

Blellow is a San Antonio based bootstrapped start-up. Their mission is to encourage open collaboration and the sharing of knowledge.

They base their mission on three principals:

Knowledge is meant to be shared.
While there are many tools for learning, the best resources are each other.

Perception and perspective will provide solutions and inspire new ideas.
When you offer a problem to a group of minds sharing knowledge, perception opens up discussion and perspective offers up solutions.

Organization is the key to productivity
Ideas can never reach their full potential if they cannot be heard.

Blellow Beta just launched earlier this week. I've since signed up and here are my thoughts:

1. Design is GREAT.

CEO Mandy Leeman has been a designer since the age of 11 when she formed her first graphic design business, called Cosmic Donkey – specializing in business cards and printed flyers. So...when it comes to great design - I'm not surprised. Plus she has really awesome blue colored hair. Love it!

2. Usability is SIMPLE.

They kept it simple which is great. They also followed the Twitter model, which is familiar. One my favorite features is the ability to write up to 300 characters. That is really nice! The one request I do have is I'd like to easily see who I'm not following. I found after signing up I had quite a few followers - but wasn't sure who was new and who I'd already followed.

3. Community is AWESOME.

So far the community is great. Collaboration and really cool conversations are already happening. I remember being self-employed, sitting at home alone, wishing I knew someone who could help me with a coding situation. With a site like Blellow - you're not alone! Just post a question in your stream and find like minded people who can help. You can even start or join groups and attend local meetups. Very cool!

4. Potential is HUGE.

I think Blellow has huge potential. With the current economy, I think many people will be starting to venture on their own working independently. With Blellow, you are not alone. Need a designer, engineer or writer - check Blellow.

Here's an awesome video that explains it perfectly:
